EasyJet Flight Diverted to Athens After Passengers Brawl Mid-Air

An easyJet flight from Antalya, Turkey to London Gatwick was forced to make an emergency landing in Athens on Tuesday after a fight broke out between two allegedly intoxicated passengers.

Video footage circulating on social media shows a chaotic scene unfolding on board the aircraft. A topless man, identified as one of the individuals involved in the altercation, can be seen arguing with fellow passengers and ignoring pleas from cabin crew to calm down.

The situation escalated to the point where the captain felt compelled to intervene over the intercom, warning the brawling passengers that police were waiting for them upon arrival in Athens. Despite the captain's warning, the topless man continued to engage in disruptive behavior, prompting exasperated passengers to voice their frustration.

"You've fd us all up you silly ct. You've fd us all up," one woman can be heard shouting at the topless man.

The video also shows other passengers attempting to de-escalate the situation and assist the cabin crew in calming down the individuals involved.

Eventually, the topless man was escorted to the back of the plane by a flight attendant. The other passenger involved in the altercation was also removed from the flight upon landing in Athens.

In a statement, easyJet confirmed the incident and emphasized their zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behavior.

"easyJet's cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time," the statement read. "Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard. The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority.”

The airline confirmed that police met the flight upon landing in Athens. It's unclear if the passengers involved will face any charges.
