On Tuesday, disaster relief payments totalling more than €12.8 million were distributed to businesses in Thessaly and Evros that were severely affected by natural disasters in 2023.

The financial aid, processed through the AADE platform "myBusinessSupport," provided critical support to enterprises that suffered losses due to floods in Thessaly in September and wildfires in Evros in August.

The relief payments were a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE). In total, €12,887,368.05 was disbursed to 1,313 businesses. Of this, €12,835,679.26 was allocated to 1,297 businesses in flood-stricken Thessaly, while €56,364.04 went to 17 businesses in Evros, primarily in the tourism sector.

Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Triantopoulos, emphasised the government's ongoing commitment to supporting affected businesses. "This is another measure within the framework of state aid, supporting Thessaly’s businesses to mitigate their losses and recover. We will continue working closely with all stakeholders to implement further measures," he stated.

The aid to businesses in Evros primarily focused on the municipalities of Soufli and Feres in Alexandroupolis, which experienced significant economic losses due to the devastating wildfires.
