Also called Malevos, Mount Parnon is one of the most important ecological zones in Greece and the most extensive mountain complex of the Peloponnese – shared by Arcadia and Laconia.
Perched on its slopes, you will find authentic mountain holiday destinations all year round. These include the traditional settlement of Agios Petros, near which is the Monastery Panagia Malevi, and Kosmas, with its large square shaded by plane trees planted since 1883.
Ano Doliana is a peaceful green village with one of Greece’s ten oldest traditional coffee houses. It offers an excellent view of Erymanthos and Mainalos.
What can one say about Geraki and the Frankish castle of the 13th century? The large village has a history of 2,500 years without interruption. It has important Byzantine churches, and the Gerakite textiles have won international awards.
In some of the villages, the elders still proudly speak the ancient Tsakonian dialect.
