'KAOS' Creator Charlie Covell Expresses Disappointment Over Cancellation, Celebrates Show's Achievements

Following the recent trend of abrupt cancellations, Netflix has axed the Jeff Goldblum-led mythological comedy series, 'KAOS', just a month after its August release. The show, a darkly comedic reimagining of Greek mythology, was created by Charlie Covell, known for their work on 'The End of the F*ing World'.

While Netflix hasn't provided a specific reason for the cancellation, it likely boils down to viewership numbers. Covell took to Sister Pictures' Instagram to address the news, expressing disappointment while also celebrating the show's accomplishments.

"We are gutted not to be making more Kaos but I don’t want this news to overshadow what we did make,” Covell shared. They expressed hope that “people still continue to discover and enjoy the show,” and praised the cast and crew, calling it a “privilege” to work with them.

Covell also directly addressed fans, encouraging them to keep the show alive: "I reckon there are some potential fans out there who might need more time to find it, so please keep talking about Kaos if you enjoyed it.” They added, “I’ve been shown subreddits that have made my heart positively sing: the tiny details and Easter eggs you noticed made my day many times over.”

The cancellation comes as a blow considering Covell previously revealed they had plans for at least a second season. "There’s definitely more," Covell stated in an earlier interview, emphasizing a desire to continue the story and collaborate with the talented cast and crew.

Despite its short run, 'KAOS' offered a unique take on classic mythology with a stellar cast including Jeff Goldblum, David Thewlis, Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, and more. While a second season is off the table, fans can still enjoy the complete first season, streaming now on Netflix.
