President Nikos Christodoulides is traveling to London on Monday following an invitation from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

In a statement on Sunday, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis noted that this is the first bilateral meeting since Starmer’s election.

He described the meeting as “particularly important, as it takes place during a period when relations between the two countries have been significantly strengthened.”

Christodoulides and Starmer will meet at 16:45 UK time, with broader discussions continuing afterward.

The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, regional matters, and developments in the Middle East.

Cyprus’ humanitarian corridor to Gaza, dubbed ‘Amalthea,’ as well as the evacuation scheme ‘Estia,’ are also on the agenda.

Christodoulides will brief Starmer on the Med9 and developments regarding the Cyprus issue, ahead of the upcoming dinner on October 15 with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The President will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Letymbiotis, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, and the director of the President’s diplomatic office, Doros Venezis.

Following this meeting, Christodoulides will depart for New York.
