BOSTON, MA (October 14, 2024)—The Alpha Omega Council will host its prestigious 2024 Honors Gala on Saturday, November 2nd, at 6 PM at the InterContinental Boston (510 Atlantic Avenue). This annual event serves as the Council’s primary fundraiser and celebrates remarkable achievements within the Greek American community.
Attendees can purchase tickets for $300, which includes a delightful evening of dinner, drinks, and entertainment featuring music from Georgios Karatzas and the Athenian Entertainment Orchestra. The gala will also spotlight the presentation of three distinguished awards recognizing outstanding individuals in various fields.
Award Honorees:
- 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award: Nicholas R. Larigakis, President and CEO of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), will be honoured for his nearly 40 years of leadership in strengthening U.S.-Greece relations.
- 2024 Philhellene Award: Loren J. Samons II, Associate Professor of Classical Studies at Boston University, will receive this award in recognition of his contributions to studying ancient Greek history and culture.
- 2024 Emerging Leader Award: Anthe Mitrakos, a journalist and advocate for Hellenic culture, will be celebrated for her impactful work in journalism. Notably, she is a past recipient of the Peter Agris Memorial Journalism Scholarship.
The gala will also recognise young Greek American aspiring journalists with the Peter Agris Memorial Journalism Scholarship, honouring the legacy of the Council’s late founder.
Last year, the 2023 Honors Gala attracted nearly 400 attendees and recognized individuals such as George P. Sakellaris and Carolyn B. Maloney for their significant contributions to the community.
