Athens Reintroduces Traffic Control Measures in City Centre

Traffic control measures returned to central Athens on Monday as part of the 'daktylios' system, aiming to manage congestion.

The restrictions, in place until July 19, 2025, allow vehicles with odd-numbered licence plates to enter on odd-numbered dates, and those with even-numbered plates on even dates.

The rules apply Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Friday until 3:00 PM, but vehicles classified as 'green' or holding special permits are exempt. This alternating system is designed to reduce traffic and improve air quality in the city centre.
