With this rationale and the consistently high performance of the Asteras Vouliagmenis complex, owned by the investment company AGC, Four Seasons will have a double and later triple presence in Greece from 2025.
The new, under-construction Four Seasons Resort Mykonos will be the luxury chain’s next stop for the next summer season.
Four Seasons is also expanding in the Peloponnese with the new 5-star project of Irish billionaire Paul Richard Colson in Porto Heli. The hotel will open after the complex in Hinitsa has been completely remodelled.
AGC, the investment scheme behind Asteras Vouliagmenis through the company Blue Iris S.A., announced together with Four Seasons the creation of the “Four Seasons Resort Mykonos”, which is being built along the coastline of the bay in Kalos Livadi.
The hotel will have 94 rooms, villas and suites overlooking the Aegean Sea.
This project was included in the regime of strategic investments in 2019 with an initial amount of 60 million euros, and in 2020, the Special Plan for Spatial Development of Strategic Investment (ESHASE) was also approved for the investment.
Then followed the legal issues with appeals from the island’s bodies – including the municipality of Mykonos – and the decision last year of the Council of State, which finally agreed under specific conditions in favour of the project.
Regarding the investment amount, it was pointed out in 2019 that the project was approved as a strategic investment with an initial budget of 60 million euros. Based on the most recent data, this figure rose to 78.6 million euros.
The GEK TERNA group is now developing the hotel on more than 60 acres, which the Matsa family previously purchased.
According to its staff, the new resort “has been designed and shaped according to Cycladic architecture, with respect for the tradition and heritage of the island of Mykonos. The simple geometric volumes, the white buildings with the whitewashed courtyards, the traditional paths and the picturesque squares are typical elements of the local architecture.”
The project’s design was by the Greek architect Nikos Valsamakis, while Wimberly Interiors undertook the interior design.
Four Seasons Resort Mykonos will offer a variety of culinary options, restaurants and bars designed by the Rockwell Group, including an open-air Italian restaurant by the pool, a modern version of a Mykonian cafe and a culinary experience on the hotel’s beach.
Amenities also include a swimming pool overlooking the Aegean Sea, a spa with various wellness rooms and a gym area.
It should be noted that the Four Seasons Resort Mykonos complements the operation of the already existing Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, which can be accessed from Mykonos by boat or short flight.
The Asteras Vouliagmenis complex is reportedly continuing this year’s tourist season on the Athenian Riviera, with AGC, in addition to Astir Beach, operating from this year and Astir Marina as a new luxury destination in the south.
For the new resort in Mykonos, the team will be led by general manager Ryan Grande, who has 14 years of experience at Four Seasons, including hotels in Jackson Hole, Vancouver and Costa Rica.
Mr. Grande will lead the new team during the opening of the new hotel on the Island of the Winds.
