‘Sacrifice’: Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault & Brendan Fraser to Star in Romain Gavras' Thriller Filmed in Greece

Chris Evans and his star-studded cast have officially begun filming Sacrifice in Greece and Iceland. Romain Gavras directed this thriller, which features Evans alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Brendan Fraser.

The plot centres on Mike Tyler (Evans), a film star aiming to revitalize his career following a public breakdown. His comeback occurs at a charity gala on a volcanic island, where chaos erupts when a radical group, led by the intense Joan (Taylor-Joy), storms the event. During the raid, Joan kidnaps Mike, the world’s richest man and another individual, dragging them through a harsh landscape to fulfil a prophecy that could threaten humanity: the need to sacrifice three lives. Mike seizes the chance for redemption, but Joan will stop at nothing to achieve her goal.

Gavras, known for his acclaimed work on Athena, is making his English-language debut with Sacrifice. The film promises a gripping blend of action and psychological tension.

Fresh off his lead role in Pain Hustlers, Evans continues to showcase his range in this new project. He also stars in the action-adventure film Ghosted and will appear in the upcoming Christmas film Red One, as well as Ethan Coen’s Honey Don’t!

Anya Taylor-Joy is coming off her leading role in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, further solidifying her status as a rising star. Meanwhile, Salma Hayek Pinault’s recent credits include Magic Mike’s Last Dance and the highly anticipated Without Blood.

Brendan Fraser, who is best known for his role in Doom Patrol, has also garnered acclaim for his performance in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.

Gavras plans to shoot “Sacrifice” in September,” which means it may be ready to premiere sometime next year. Maybe he’ll return to Cannes in 2025 for its world premiere?

As filming progresses, Greece and Iceland remain attractive backdrops for high-profile projects, following recent productions like Argylle and The Northman. Audiences can look forward to seeing how this exciting new thriller unfolds.
