Santorini Hoteliers Association Donates Ambulance to Enhance Island's Medical Services

The Santorini Hoteliers Association (SHA) recently donated an ambulance to the National Emergency Care Center (EKAV) in Santorini to enhance the island’s medical services. EKAV is responsible for providing ambulance services across Greece.

The association stated that the ambulance would soon be fully equipped to serve residents and visitors, highlighting the centre’s essential role in healthcare on the island.

The vehicle handover occurred during the SHA’s annual assembly, where discussions focused on initiatives to promote Santorini’s tourism and improve hospitality.

During the delivery, EKAV board members expressed gratitude to Antonis Iliopoulos, the association’s former management and president, for leading the effort to secure the ambulance.

It is important to note that many Greek islands struggle with medical service challenges, particularly during the summer months when demand surges. This leads to issues like understaffing and shortages of vehicles and medical supplies.
