The price of extra virgin olive oil in Messinia, Crete, and Laconia is significantly lower compared to countries such as Spain, Italy, and Tunisia.
In Spain, the average price reaches 7.17 euros per kilo, while in Tunisia it is 7.57 euros, and in Italy, it is 9.13 euros. In Greece, the price ranges from 6.70 to 6.90 euros in areas such as Messinia and Crete.
According to SEDIK data, the “Nileas” cooperative in Messinia buys last year’s extra virgin olive oil at 6.90 euros per kilo, while in Crete, the price varies between 6.70 and 6.80 euros. In Laconia, the price for producers ranges from 7 to 7.50 euros per kilo.
In Spain, virgin olive oil with acidity up to 2% is sold for 6.99 euros per kilo, while lampante oil is priced at 6.47 euros. In Italy, the price of lampante oil ranges from 5 to 5.30 euros per kilo, while PDO olive oils are sold for 9.20 to 12 euros per kilo.
