Farewell to Zante: Iconic Greek Street Food Venue Shuts Doors

Zante Greek Street Food, a beloved culinary fixture in Henley Beach, has closed its doors after nearly six years of serving authentic Greek cuisine. Known for its bold Mediterranean flavors and a menu featuring popular dishes like souvlakia and AB packs, Zante's closure marks the third in a series of recent beachside venue shutdowns, following The Cooks Pantry in Grange and a restaurant in West Beach. Rising rental costs in Adelaide's beach suburbs have been cited as a contributing factor.

The team behind Zante announced the closure just two days prior to their final operating day on October 27. The venue, which was sold as the owners embark on a new chapter, received an outpouring of support and positive messages on social media from loyal patrons. Jeff Fotis Iliopoulos, a customer, praised the restaurant for its authenticity and family-run charm.

In a heartfelt message, owners Andrew, Nikki, and George expressed gratitude to their community for the support and memories over the years. Before becoming a Greek eatery, the location housed a popular video store for 14 years, and the Zante team wished future occupants success and community backing.

While Zante's departure leaves a gap in Henley Beach's food scene, its impact on local food culture and the community's dining experiences won't be forgotten.
