Volos: Prisoners riot following death of Pakistani inmate

A riot occurred last weekend at the Volos Youth Correctional Facility. The prisoners set fire to mattresses and other items, and the cells were ablaze. After a few hours, things calmed down, and the rioters returned to their cells.

The reason that caused the anger to overflow was the death of 21-year-old prisoner Arslan Ali, who is of Pakistani origin.

For three hours, Arslan Ali shouted to the prison guards that he was in pain and asked for help. They ignored him, telling him he was lying.

For this reason, fellow inmates were outraged and started setting things ablaze.
