Following a fatal explosion in Athens’ Ampelokipi district on Thursday, both Greek and Israeli intelligence services are on high alert. With the Israeli embassy potentially the focus of this attack, the Mossad has heightened its presence in the city, closely monitoring the aftermath.

Security footage from the Israeli embassy in Athens is under thorough examination to assess any potential threats. Former Western intelligence officials noted that the Mossad might deploy a team of agents to Athens to delve into the incident. This team, noted for its expertise, will analyze all possibilities, arriving discreetly and from various locations as the investigation unfolds.

Mossad’s local station in Athens is already actively collecting data regarding the bombing, its perpetrators, and their movements within the city. In collaboration with Greek security agencies, evidence from the apartment annihilated by the blast is being scrutinized.

Considering regional tensions involving Hamas and Hezbollah, Greek and Israeli authorities are taking the threat of a terrorist attack on the embassy seriously. The investigation seeks to preempt any further threats by examining all intelligence shared by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Anti-Terrorist Service.

Prevention of an Attack on a Jewish Restaurant:

In a show of effective international cooperation, a previous plot to attack a Jewish restaurant in Athens’ Psirri district was thwarted last March. Acting on extensive intelligence from Mossad, Greek agencies detained two Pakistani nationals who had plans to execute the attack under the directives of an overseas terrorist leader.

These arrests, occurring on March 28, triggered prompt gratitude from Israeli officials. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mossad extended their thanks to Greece for averting a potential terrorist incident against Israeli interests.

This incident underscores the necessity for global cooperation and vigilance in mitigating terrorism threats, as shown by the strong partnership between Greek and Israeli agencies.
