Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will make a brief six-hour working visit to Athens on Friday. Arriving on a government jet due to the absence of a direct Ankara-Athens flight, Fidan and his delegation will be received at the Greek Foreign Ministry, where the Turkish flag will be displayed alongside the Greek and EU flags. The core of the visit will be a tête-à-tête meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis. While significant disagreements on issues of Greek national sovereignty are expected to remain, the focus will likely be on preparations for the next High Level Cooperation Council (HLCC) meeting scheduled for Ankara early next year. Following the private meeting, an expanded meeting with diplomats and aides from both sides will take place.Discussions will also assess the progress of the 15 bilateral agreements signed by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan roughly a year ago, covering sectors like tourism, energy, trade, research, education, and transport. Many of these agreements are reportedly already in the implementation phase. The visit will conclude with a working lunch hosted by Gerapetritis, with no other engagements planned.
