Athens will host the 41st Athens Marathon on November 9th and 10th, welcoming over 73,000 runners from 152 countries.
The event will kick off on Saturday, November 9th, with a 5km road race and the OPAP Universities Night Run. The main event, the historic 41.2km marathon, will take place on Sunday, November 10th. Runners will trace the footsteps of the legendary Pheidippides, starting from the Marathonas Municipal Stadium and finishing at the iconic Panathenaic Stadium.
Athens Mayor Haris Doukas expressed excitement about the event, stating, "Athens proudly welcomes athletes and runners worldwide again this year. On this historic route, we celebrate the spirit of sports, the joy of participation, and the value of inclusion."
Adjustments will be made to public transport routes and road operations to ensure the safety and convenience of residents and visitors and to facilitate the competition schedule.
