Greek-Australian Society’s Mentoring Program: A Celebration of Four Years of Professional Growth in 2024

Greek-Australian Society’s Mentoring Program

Mentors from The Greek-Australian Society’s (GAS) Mentoring Program gathered at Piato to celebrate four years of fostering professional connections and guiding young talent across Australia, Greece, and the United States.

The program is inspired by modern, community-inspired mentorship that connects Greek-Australians and Philhellenes across generations, distances and professions.

Reflecting on the program’s importance, Peter Dracakis, President of GAS, remarked, “This mentoring program goes beyond career guidance; it is about building supportive networks and nurturing a sense of community. By sharing values and knowledge, we ensure these connections strengthen and expand future opportunities for Greek-Australians navigating their career journeys.”

Bill Maloukis, Vice President of GAS and Managing Director of Construction Specialties Australia, which sponsored the event, added, “Supporting this program is deeply rewarding because it embodies the spirit of giving back to our community. The mentors’ dedication and the mentees’ drive to grow to ensure that the Greek-Australian community continues to thrive personally and professionally.”

Yannis Mallikourtis, Consul General of Greece in Sydney, was also in attendance, sharing his thoughts on the importance of preserving the Greek language and culture for future generations of Greek Australians.

As the program looks to the future, GAS aims to expand its reach and impact, offering even more opportunities for connection and development.

The Greek-Australian Society’s Mentoring Program is an initiative to connect young Greek-Australians with experienced professionals in the Greek-Australian community to support career development, personal growth, and cultural engagement. This program provides mentees with valuable guidance, networking opportunities, and insights into various industries from mentors who have established themselves in their respective fields.
