Greek Deputy FM Fragogiannis Attends COP29 in Baku

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Kostas Fragogiannis, responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, arrived in Baku on Monday to participate in the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29).

The event, which began the same day, brings together global leaders to discuss pressing environmental and climate challenges.

Fragogiannis is part of the Greek delegation led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The group also includes ministers and senior officials from various government departments, such as Environment & Energy, Culture, and Shipping.

Greece is showcasing its climate initiatives through a national pavilion at COP29. The pavilion will host over 40 events highlighting the country’s strategies and priorities in environmental protection and sustainable development.

Key items on Fragogiannis' agenda include a presentation on Tuesday titled "Greece at COP: Leading the Way in Green Economy and Climate Action" and a Wednesday event, "GR-ean Digital World: Greece and Masdar in Pivotal Cooperation on Green and Clean Digital Transformation." The latter will feature Masdar CEO Mohamed Al Ramahi and explore innovative partnerships in green technology.

This high-profile participation underscores Greece's commitment to climate leadership and international collaboration for sustainable development.
