A pistol and ammunition were discovered in a hidden cache inside the underground boiler room of Korydallos Prison.
The weapon, along with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, was found by officers from the Anti-Extortion Department, part of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Crimes against Life and Property, within the Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime.
During a routine inspection, authorities uncovered the pistol, which was found wrapped in duct tape and stored in a concealed crypt within the prison’s masonry. The firearm was seized, along with the magazine, which was found to be empty, and the 15 bullets.
A team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations was called to the scene to photograph the evidence and document the area.
The investigation into the discovery is being led by the Department for the Prosecution of Extortionists, under the Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime.
