Two men, aged 32 and 47, along with a 50-year-old woman, have been arrested in an ongoing investigation into a scam that reportedly swindled a 72-year-old man out of thousands of euros.
According to a police statement released on Saturday, the woman posed as a fortune teller, persuading the elderly man to make various “investments.” When he struggled to meet her ongoing financial demands, she arranged for him to borrow money from her accomplices at a steep interest rate.
The incident occurred in the West Attica town of Megara. The victim allegedly owed more than 850,000 euros.
