The trial for the brutal femicide of 41-year-old pregnant woman Georgia, whose body was found in a trunk in January 2024, began today at the Mixed Jury Court of Edessa. The two accused, her 39-year-old partner and his 34-year-old friend, face charges including manslaughter, robbery, and illegal weapon possession. The crime occurred in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, with security footage linking the defendants to the crime scene. Georgia was fatally stabbed, and the two men allegedly killed her to rob her. Both remain in custody as the trial proceeds.
The crime occurred on New Year's Day 2024 in the apartment of her 39-year-old partner.
The two accused, the woman's partner and his 34-year-old friend, face charges of manslaughter with intent, termination of pregnancy, robbery, and illegal possession and use of weapons. According to the Thessaloniki Petty Magistrates' Council, the men acted together to rob Georgia, which led to her brutal killing. The two defendants are currently in prison, having been remanded in custody after their testimonies to the 4th regular investigating magistrate of Thessaloniki.
Security footage captured the men transporting Georgia's body in a trunk, along with other evidence, including a blood-stained mattress and discarded personal items. The woman, who was pregnant at the time of her death, suffered three fatal knife wounds to her neck and cervical region.
The 39-year-old partner initially attempted to mislead authorities by sending fake messages, pretending to be from Georgia. The trial will continue as the two defendants continue to blame each other for the tragic crime.
