Bodrum, Turkey – Turkish Coast Guard authorities intercepted two groups of migrants attempting to reach Greece on November 15, 2024. In one incident, two individuals were caught trying to swim to a nearby Greek island. In a separate incident later that day, a boat carrying 27 migrants, including 14 children, was stopped.
Attempted Swim Intercepted:
Around 12:25 am, a Coast Guard patrol boat (KB-114) detected two people attempting to swim towards Greece off the Bodrum coast. Equipped with diving suits and fins, they were apprehended and brought ashore. Following processing, they were transferred to the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. The Coast Guard confirmed the incident in a statement.
Migrant Boat Stopped:
Later that day, at 3:00 pm, a Coast Guard mobile radar (MORAD-1) detected a rubber boat carrying migrants. The Coast Guard ship TCSG-302 intercepted the vessel and apprehended 27 migrants, 14 of whom were children. One suspected smuggler was also detained. The Coast Guard released a statement confirming the interception and apprehension of the migrants and suspected smuggler.
