With two new international awards, the promotion of Naxos for the next summer season begins.
According to MSN, the largest island of the Cyclades is one of Europe’s “hidden” destinations that can still offer unforgettable experiences to visitors from all over the world.
The American website, which has hundreds of millions of readers, states, “If you’re looking for authentic Greek island life without the chaos of Rhodes, check out Naxos. It has beautiful beaches, traditional villages, and more.”
In the list by MSN and Starsinsider, Naxos ranks 4th among 30 regions from Croatia, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Iceland, Netherlands, Ireland, Estonia, France, Portugal, Czech Republic, Scotland, Denmark, Turkey, Spain, Austria, Germany, Poland, Sweden, and England.
“This September, tourist traffic to Naxos via boat arrival appeared to strengthen by 10.6%, while air arrivals also impressively increased by 32% compared to last year,” said Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Naxos and Lesser Cyclades, Vaggelis Katsaras.
“The emergence of the island as a quality destination in foreign markets for a visit outside of the high season cannot be characterised as a mere coincidence.
“Our story finds a response to a special audience through organised exhibition participation, social media development, familiarisation trips and a series of publications and distinctions non-stop throughout the year.”
A few days ago, the municipality participated in the tourism exhibition WTM 2024 in London where, with the help of experts, meetings were planned with professionals, bloggers, travel influencers and journalists from popular media such as Times, MSN, Daily Telegraph, etc.
After the end of the exhibition at a special event organised by the UK’s EOT Office, Naxos was awarded Greece’s top sustainable destination after 13,000 customers voted on two of the UK’s most established travel comparison and booking engines.
In this direction, the municipality, in collaboration with the Greek National Tourism Organisation (EOT) Office in Great Britain, organised a September familiarisation trip for specialised tourist agents and journalists.
