Islanders pays thirty euros more per gas fill for their cars than someone who lives on the mainland.
The cost of fuel hurts most Greek families and businesses. In the major urban centres, the price per litre of 95 octanes unleaded petrol is close to 1.70 euros, which is especially high when considering the low wages of a large percentage of workers.
It should be noted that almost two-thirds of fuel prices are taxes, which are written on the receipts given by gas stations.
If 1.70 is high, imagine what those living on the island of Greece are thinking, where prices are skyrocketing. As you can see from the photo published by News Auto, on the island of Amorgos, gas stations sell unleaded gasoline for 2.14 euros per litre.
In practice, this means that for an everyday car with a 60-litre fuel tank, the islanders (in this particular case in Amorgos) are asked to pay almost 30 euros more per filling.
A driver in Athens will pay close to 100 euros, while at the same time, one from Amorgos will pay almost 130 euros.
