The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Nikos Tachiaos, has halted the scenarios for creating a railway network on Greece's largest island.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Nikos Tachiaos, from the floor of the Parliament, put an end to the scenario of a train line in Crete, News Auto reported.
As he mentioned, there is no provision for a train to Crete in the European networks since the regulation for the trans-European transport network, which is being gradually developed in three stages until 2050, does not provide for railway infrastructure on the island.
"If the European Union really wanted to support such infrastructure projects, the corresponding resources should be increased," emphasised Tachiaos.
He added that the project should include a cost-benefit study, a development strategy, and appropriate timing.
He underlined that many major infrastructure projects are being carried out in Crete, such as the Northern Road Axis of Crete (BOAK) and the airport in Kasteli.
