Calexico: The beloved band from Arizona will perform a winter concert in Athens

Calexico

Where and when will the Calexico concert take place?

Calexico, a band particularly beloved by the Greek community and from faraway Arizona, have scheduled a winter visit to Athens on February 9 to play a concert at Gagarin 205.

The band's founding members, Joey Burns and John Convertino, flanked by their long-time collaborator, trumpeter Martin Wenk, are touring selectively in only a few destinations in Europe on the occasion of their participation in the play of Tennessee Williams, "Camino Real," performed at the Volkstheater in Vienna.

Calexico composed the original music for the show and appeared live on stage. Joey played Don Quixote, John played Sancho Panza, and Martin played a street sweeper.

So Calexico's "Desert Noir" will meet on stage with T. Williams' "South Noir," proving once again that the band's music remains wandering and constantly moving as it explores new ways to fill our souls with deep beauty and infectious euphoria.

This happy coincidence, which brings Calexico to Europe, fatefully leads them to Greece.

Athens is one of the stops on this selective tour, offering the audience the rare opportunity to experience a more intimate and personal experience with the band that introduced the Greek audience to this distinctive Southwest sound.

Gagarin 205 will be specially configured for this particular concert to accommodate seated and standing spectators. As its capacity is limited, it is advisable for the audience to secure their tickets early.
