Brussels, Belgium—The European Commission has approved Greece's 2025 budget plan and medium-term fiscal strategy. This positive assessment aligns with the European Semester's autumn package, marking a significant milestone under the new economic governance framework.

Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni highlighted that 17 of 20 eurozone member states submitted their 2025 budget drafts. Eight countries, including Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Italy, Latvia, Slovenia, and Slovakia, were deemed compliant with fiscal recommendations due to their adherence to net expenditure limits.

While some countries, such as Estonia, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Lithuania, faced scrutiny for exceeding expenditure limits or failing to phase out energy measures, Greece's fiscal plan was recognized for its responsible approach.

This positive assessment reflects Greece's ongoing efforts to strengthen its fiscal position and promote sustainable economic growth.
