A Night of Recognition and Celebration

The evening featured a captivating exhibition by the Hylton Mackley Artist of the Year, inspiring attendees to explore the depths of artistic expression. Distinguished guests, including Consul General of Greece Emmanuel Kakavelakis and renowned cardiothoracic surgeon Professor James Tatoulis AM, graced the occasion.

Professor Tatoulis, a stalwart of the medical community, delivered an inspiring speech about his career, family, and the importance of Greek heritage. The HMSA honoured him with a plaque for his significant contributions to medicine.

Strengthening Ties with Greece

HMSA President Professor Marinis Pirpiris has been instrumental in fostering stronger ties between Australia and Greece. He recently met with key figures in Greek healthcare and government, including the Minister of Health, the President of the Athens Medical Association, and the Hellenic Parliament. These meetings aim to facilitate the recognition of foreign medical degrees, establish exchange programs with Greek universities, and strengthen cultural and professional connections between the two nations.
