Athens, Greece – The Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens recently hosted the inauguration of a captivating photographic exhibition, “The Olympic Ideal and the Olympic Truce, 776 BC – 2024: 2,800 years of history.” This exhibition, organized by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, celebrates the enduring legacy of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Truce.

The exhibition delves into the rich history of the Olympic Games, tracing its origins to ancient Greece and its revival in the 19th century. It highlights the timeless values of peace, solidarity, and respect for human rights that underpin the Olympic movement.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs George Kotsiras emphasized the significance of the Olympic ideals in promoting international understanding and cooperation. He noted that Greece, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, will continue to champion these values on the global stage.

The exhibition, which has previously been showcased at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Vienna, and New York, will be open to the public at the Byzantine and Christian Museum until December 31, 2024.
