London, UK – Greece has intensified its efforts to secure the return of the Parthenon Marbles, a collection of ancient Greek sculptures housed at the British Museum.

According to a senior government source, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis have held multiple private meetings with British Museum trustees, including Chair George Osborne, to discuss the potential repatriation of the iconic artifacts.

This renewed push for the return of the Marbles comes ahead of Mitsotakis’ meeting with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on Tuesday. While former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was hesitant to return the sculptures, Sir Keir is believed to be more open to the idea.

A source close to the UK Prime Minister’s office indicated a flexible approach to the issue, stating, “We are open to whatever is agreed.”
