A 21-year-old man wanted in connection with the murder of teenager Matthew Daulby in Ormskirk has been arrested in Greece, Lancashire Police confirmed.
Daulby, 19, from Liverpool, was fatally stabbed in the chest during a mass brawl on Railway Road on July 19 last year. Despite efforts to save him, he died in the hospital shortly after the incident.
Over the past 16 months, authorities have been seeking Thomas Dures in connection with the case. His arrest follows extensive collaboration between Lancashire Constabulary and the National Crime Agency. Dures appeared in court on Tuesday following his detention.
Earlier this year, Henry Houghton, 19, was convicted of Daulby’s murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 20 years.
Daulby’s family described him as a “compassionate, loving, and funny” young man with a “zest for life.” His father, Gary Daulby, expressed the family’s enduring pain, stating, “The yearning to see Matthew again is overwhelming… We are tortured on a daily basis by what happened to Matthew on that fateful night.”
