Achilleas Beos was infuriated by the poor sound quality at Constantinos Argyros’ concert, part of Volos’ Christmas festivities.
Konstantinos Argyros and Katerina Kainourgiou accepted Achilleas Beos’ invitation to participate in the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Volos.
Thousands from Volos, Thessaly, and across Greece gathered for the remarkable event, with Katerina Kainourgiou kicking off the festivities as host. Konstantinos Argyros later entertained the crowd with popular songs, backed by the Municipal Philharmonic.
The incident at the Volos Christmas tree lighting was featured on ANT1’s “Breakfast” show on the morning of December 4, 2024. The footage included the Mayor of the city, Achilleas Beos, criticizing the event’s sound engineers for poor audio quality.
“Listen, so I don’t have to come over and slap you – this is not worthy of Konstantinos Argyros. Fix the sound, because you’re not getting paid otherwise. Let it be clear… Congratulations! The whole of Greece is watching us. Shame on you, technicians. We are hosting Argyros, shame on you,” Achilleas Beos exclaimed, before congratulating Konstantinos Argyros on the birth of his child, noting, “It was a boy, not a girl.”
Later, to ease the tension, Beos shared a joke with the gathered crowd, drawing laughter.
After viewing the segment, Giorgos Liagas commented, “I say this with love. Achilleas Beos doesn’t realize something. He thinks criticizing the sound in Argyros’ presence made him happy. Argyros was actually upset and put in an awkward position. Sound glitches happen to everyone, and airing it across Greece isn’t the way. Does Beos, known for his straightforward heart, really want this? Should workers go unpaid over a sound issue?”
