A horrific case of femicide has unfolded in Ampelokipi, Athens, after a 39-year-old man confessed to killing his wife and concealing her body in their apartment attic.
The incident occurred at a residence on Lakonia Street and has sent shockwaves through the community.
According to information from ERT, the man, an Albanian national, called emergency services shortly before 6 PM, admitting to the crime. He told authorities that he killed his wife last Thursday night by striking her on the head with a hammer inside their ground-floor apartment.
The alleged motive, according to the confessed perpetrator, was jealousy. The couple, who share two children aged 12 and 9, had reportedly been experiencing marital strife.
Police patrols quickly arrived at the scene, where the suspect led officers to the attic. Inside, authorities discovered a strong stench and black nylon bags believed to contain the woman's remains. Law enforcement sealed off the scene, awaiting forensic and security teams to examine the evidence.
The suspect has been arrested and is now in custody for questioning.
