Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Granted Asylum in Moscow; Russia Calls for Closed UN Security Council Meeting on Golan Heights

According to TASS, referencing a Kremlin source, former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family have arrived in Moscow, where they have been granted asylum for humanitarian reasons.

The source informed the news agency, “President al-Assad from Syria is now in Moscow. Russia has provided him and his family with asylum on humanitarian grounds.”

Additionally, diplomats disclosed that Russia has called for a closed-door meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the UN peacekeeping mission in the occupied Golan Heights.
