Super League Roundup: All Top Teams Secure Wins, Van’t Schip Returns to Greece

All top six teams in the Super League secured victories this weekend, keeping the standings at the top unchanged. Olympiakos comfortably led the way with a 3-0 win over Volos, while AEK, PAOK, and Panathinaikos also claimed crucial victories. Aris bounced back from a Cup exit, and Panetolikos earned a narrow win. Meanwhile, Dutch coach John Van’t Schip is set to return to Greece.

League leaders Olympiakos cruised to a 3-0 win against Volos in Piraeus on Saturday. Ayoub El Kaabi, Babis Kostoulas, and Gelson Martins found the net for the Reds. El Kaabi, the current top scorer in the Super League with 11 goals, was among the standout performers.

AEK came from behind to defeat 10-man OFI 2-1 in Crete. OFI took the lead with a stunning strike from Zisis Karahalios, but AEK levelled through Harold Moukoudi, and Anthony Martial netted the winner after a brilliant setup by Levi Garcia. This victory keeps AEK tied for second place.

AEK shares second place with PAOK, who triumphed 4-1 over Panserraikos. An own goal from Jason Davidson, along with strikes from Kiril Despodov, Abdul Baba Rahman, and Shola Shoretire, sealed the win for the visitors. Juan Salazar scored the hosts’ only goal.

Panathinaikos maintained their pursuit of the top spot with a narrow 1-0 win at Asteras, courtesy of a late goal from Alexander Jeremejeff in Tripoli.

Aris, currently in fifth place, bounced back from their midweek Cup elimination by AEK, securing a 2-1 home win over Atromitos. Hugo Mallo and Loren Moron scored for Aris, while Amr Warda pulled one back for the visitors. Aris is expected to part ways with manager Akis Mantzios and hire Dutch coach Van’t Schip, formerly of Ajax and Greece.

Panetolikos won 1-0 at Lamia on Sunday, with Andrija Majdevac scoring the only goal.

On Monday, Athens Kallithea will host Levadiakos.

Olympiakos leads the table with 30 points, followed by AEK and PAOK with 27 each, Panathinaikos with 26, Aris with 24, and Panetolikos with 22.
