Greece has been ranked as one of the safest travel destinations for 2025 in the **Global Risk Map 2025**, produced by Safeture and Riskline. Despite rising instability across parts of Europe and the Middle East, Greece remains in the “low-risk” category, alongside countries like Canada, Australia, and Japan. The map provides essential insights for travelers, helping them make informed decisions in an increasingly unpredictable global landscape.
The annual report assesses travel risks worldwide, offering a comprehensive guide to help individuals and businesses plan their journeys.
Despite growing instability in parts of Europe, Greece remains in the “low-risk” category, signaling resilience in managing crises such as criminal activity, terrorism, and natural disasters. The report highlights that while such challenges can impact travel, countries in this category are considered well-equipped to handle these threats effectively.
The report reveals that security conditions have worsened in 77 countries, with notable deterioration in the Middle East. Regions such as Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran are flagged as “extremely dangerous.” New Caledonia also saw a significant decline in safety over the past year. Other countries identified as “most dangerous” include Burkina Faso, Libya, and Myanmar, joining long-standing high-risk zones like Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, and Ukraine.
Europe, traditionally seen as a bastion of stability, is experiencing increased risks. Countries such as France, Spain, Sweden, and the UK have been categorized as “moderate risk” due to political unrest, public protests, and environmental challenges, including storms and flooding. Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland are also facing heightened risks.
However, several European nations remain exceptionally safe for travelers. Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Finland, Iceland, and Norway are ranked among the “extremely low risk” destinations.
Outside Europe, countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Japan have been identified as ideal destinations for stress-free travel. Improvements in safety levels were also noted in Argentina, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Morocco, and Cuba, which have moved into the “moderate risk” category.
At the city level, Bern has been named the world’s safest city, followed by Doha, Melbourne, Montreal, Moscow, Ottawa, and Seoul.
The Global Risk Map 2025 provides valuable insights into the evolving global travel landscape, underscoring the importance of staying informed about safety conditions when planning trips in the coming year.
