A 24-year-old man of Albanian origin was seriously injured after being shot while riding his motorcycle on Egnatia Odos, near a tollgate in Thessaloniki.
The victim, who had recently been released from prison after serving a sentence for theft, managed to continue to the toll station before collapsing.
The incident occurred around 7 PM when emergency services were alerted. An ambulance and rapid response units arrived quickly to provide first aid, followed by a Mobile Unit from the ambulance service that transported the victim to AHEPA Hospital, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The suspect, who was reportedly riding another motorcycle, fled the scene. Authorities from the Hellenic Police are conducting an active investigation to locate and apprehend the assailant.
This violent incident has shocked the local community, as police intensify their efforts to uncover the motive and circumstances behind the attack.
