Pathway to the 2026 World Cup is Clear
The Greek national soccer team received a favorable draw on Friday for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, offering a promising opportunity to reach the tournament for the first time in 12 years.
The draw, held in Zurich, determined that Greece will compete against the loser of the UEFA Nations League playoffs between Portugal and Denmark, along with Scotland and Belarus.
The top team from this group of four will qualify directly for the World Cup, set to be hosted in the US, Mexico, and Canada. The second-placed team will have another chance to qualify through the playoffs, joining other group runners-up and four teams from the 2024-2025 Nations League.

These qualifying matches, featuring home and away legs, will take place from September to November 2025.
Notably, Greece will also face Scotland next March in the playoffs, vying for promotion to the top tier of the Nations League.
Due to ongoing sanctions, Belarus will continue to play its home matches in neutral venues.
