Greece Shines at 2024 World Robotics Olympiad with Outstanding Achievements

The 2024 World Robotics Olympiad, held in Izmir under the theme “Allies of the Earth,” saw a record 560 teams from 87 countries compete at the highest level. Among them, the Greek team GitLab from Kalamata secured an impressive silver medal, finishing second globally and first in Europe. This marks Greece’s 10th medal at the Olympiad, showcasing the country’s rising prominence in educational robotics.

Other notable Greek teams included BotanIQ from Attica, which placed 6th worldwide and 1st in Europe in the Future Innovators Middle School category, and Robovision from Piraeus, which ranked 15th globally in the Primary School Robomission category. Earphones from Thessaloniki achieved 25th place worldwide in the High School Robomission category, while REM – Robot Ex Machina from Thessaly developed a fire and earthquake protection system, finishing 42nd worldwide.

Lastly, Yellow Squad 2.0 from Larissa took 53rd place worldwide in the Robomission Middle School category.
