A 4.9 magnitude earthquake occurred on the evening of Sunday, December 22, 2024, off the coast of Crete.
According to the updated report from the Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake's epicentre was located in the sea, 45 kilometres south-southeast of Zakros, in Lassithi. The focal depth is estimated to be 53.6 kilometres.
