Cypriot agricultural organizations (PEK, EKA, Panagrotikos, New Agricultural, Euroagricultural, and POC) have expressed serious concern over recent incidents in the Frenaros/Deryneia Buffer Zone, where farmers are facing obstacles while cultivating their land.

United Nations vehicles with 15 peacekeepers present, instructed not to allow farmers to cultivate the fields. Meanwhile, the Police have completed taking statements from members of UNFICYP who filed an official complaint.

The organizations affirm their support for these farmers, emphasizing their right to cultivate land within the UN-controlled Buffer Zone, as stipulated in existing agreements. They stress that this area is not occupied territory and call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations for immediate intervention to resolve the issue.
