Teenage cricketer Sam Konstas will make his Test debut for Australia in the Boxing Day match against India, becoming the fourth-youngest Australian to do so.
The young cricketer, of Greek heritage, will open the batting, replacing Nathan McSweeney and presenting a “different challenge” for India’s pace attack, according to coach Andrew McDonald. Despite a quad strain suffered in Brisbane, Travis Head is expected to play, though he missed a key training session.
Mitch Marsh, declared fully fit, is also slated for more overs. Konstas, a stylish right-hander, impressed McDonald with his composure and shot-making ability. Scott Boland will also play, replacing the injured Josh Hazlewood.
