Shocking images have been released of the rescue of a 33-year-old American tourist who fell from a significant height at the Preveli Monastery in Crete. She is hospitalized in critical condition.

The woman suffered serious injuries to her chest and head, and tragically, she lost the child she was carrying.
The 33-year-old was in the area with her partner when she slipped and fell from a great height in a difficult-to-access location.
Her partner called for help around 2:00 PM, initiating a rescue operation that lasted several hours. The operation involved 21 firefighters from the Rethymno Fire Service, the Fire Stations of Agia Fotini, Spili, Anogia, the mountaineering team of the 3rd EMAK (Special Disaster Unit), and the Heraklion S.m.E.A. (Air Rescue) team.
