Greece — Imagine a sunlit embrace and a gentle breeze on a winter's day—it's a sensation that defines bliss. For those enduring snowfall, escape is just a flight away to Greece, where this experience awaits you.

In late 2023, U.S. News & World Report unveiled its eighth annual Best Countries ranking, highlighting global perceptions of destinations based on several qualitative factors. Their 2023 analysis encompassed feedback from more than 17,000 respondents across 87 countries, rating destinations on 73 different attributes. Notably, one of these was the perceived pleasantness of a country's climate.

Greece topped the list, earning the distinction of having the most delightful climate on earth.

Summers in Greece are renowned for their sheer perfection, marked by nearly constant sunshine. Temperatures in Athens typically range from 27°C to 32°C, with similarly warm conditions across the islands, such as Crete. Athens alone enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine annually. What enhances Greece's appeal is its consistently mild temperatures year-round, with January in Athens averaging around 9°C—cool, yet far from freezing. And temperatures only rise as the seasons progress.

Beyond its climate, Greece excelled in other survey areas, ranking second for heritage and third for adventure.

For those seeking more options, the report also recognized Portugal as having the second most pleasant climate, followed by Spain, Brazil, and Italy. Completing the top 10 were New Zealand, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Australia, offering a plethora of global destinations to consider for a sunny vacation. Surely, any of these options are better than weathering another blizzard, right?
