Earthquake of 2.7 Richter Felt in Attica at Dawn – Epicenter in Chalandri

Another Tremor Followed 1.5 Hours Later in the Same Area

Two shallow-focus earthquakes occurred in Chalandri within approximately 1.5 hours and at relatively close proximity to each other in the early hours of December 29th.

The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 2.7 on the Richter scale, struck the Chalandri area shortly before 3:30 AM and was felt in several parts of Attica. According to the revised report from the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter was two kilometers southwest of Chalandri, with a focal depth of 5.7 kilometers in an area that has experienced frequent tremors recently.

The second seismic tremor, measuring 1.9 on the Richter scale, had its epicenter three kilometers south-southwest of Chalandri, with the focal depth recorded at 7.9 kilometers, according to the Geodynamic Institute.
