A pistol was discovered in an Airbnb apartment in Glyfada on Saturday by a tenant, who promptly notified the owner, who then contacted police.
Police investigations revealed that three Turkish nationals had rented the apartment from December 9th until December 16th. Notably, December 9th was the date of a fatal shooting attack in Glyfada that resulted in the deaths of two Turkish nationals and injuries to a third. Authorities have attributed the attack to a conflict between rival Turkish mafia groups.
While the perpetrators of the shooting have already been identified, no direct link has yet been established between the former Airbnb tenants and the attack. However, an investigation is underway to locate and identify the three Turkish nationals who rented the apartment to conduct forensic testing on them about the discovered pistol.
The pistol is being analysed to determine whether it has been used in other criminal activities.
This discovery follows the arrests of two Turkish nationals immediately after the Glyfada shooting and a subsequent series of arrests. Twelve individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident during operations in Athens and Thessaloniki.
