According to sources, the Greek Ministry of Civil Protection is expected to finalize a contract within the first months of 2025 for the acquisition and installation of seven new meteorological radar networks nationwide.

This €36 million project aims to significantly enhance Greece's ability to prevent and prepare for extreme weather events. It addresses a long-standing weakness in the country's meteorological infrastructure that, according to Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias, has persisted for over twenty years.

The new meteorological stations and radars are projected to substantially improve the accuracy and quality of weather forecasts nationwide.
