Nikos Androulakis, leader of the PASOK-Movement for Change party, met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on Saturday at the Phanar in Istanbul.
This marks Androulakis's third consecutive visit to the historic Orthodox Christian center to commemorate Epiphany Day.
According to an official statement released by PASOK, Patriarch Bartholomew warmly welcomed Androulakis and extended his best wishes for the New Year. During the meeting, Androulakis expressed his gratitude for the Patriarch’s hospitality and shared his admiration for the spiritual leader's influence.
"We are honoured by your hospitality," Androulakis said. "I wish you health and prosperity in 2025. Your words and deeds inspire and empower millions of Orthodox Christians worldwide. I hope you remain strong, as you inspire us all."
The visit underscored the close ties between the Greek political leader and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, with Androulakis emphasising the importance of Bartholomew’s leadership for the global Orthodox community.
