The first cruise ship of the year, the Viking Saturn, arrived at Piraeus port on Tuesday, carrying 930 passengers. The 228-meter-long ship features nine decks, as reported by ANA. To mark the occasion, the administration of the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) hosted a special event with the exchange of honorary plaques and offered welcome treats to the passengers at the Cruise Station.
Viking operates in the port of Piraeus year-round, with plans for 41 arrivals in 2025, utilizing 10 of its ships, up from 28 arrivals in 2024 with seven ships. The port of Piraeus continues to show impressive growth in the cruise sector. According to preliminary data, in 2024, the port set new records for cruise ship passenger numbers, surpassing 1.7 million, compared to 1.5 million in 2023. Additionally, homeporting passengers exceeded 1 million, a significant increase from 800,000 in 2023.
