Wizz Air will resume flights from Tel Aviv to 10 destinations, including Athens, Vienna, and Bucharest, starting January 15. This expansion marks a significant step in restoring international travel to Israel, which was severely disrupted after the October 2023 Hamas attack. Other airlines, including Aegean, LOT Polish, and Air Europa, have also resumed or expanded services to Israel.
In October, the Hungarian carrier had temporarily suspended its services to Israel, but it restarted operations in December with flights between Ben-Gurion Airport and Larnaca. From January 15, Tel Aviv will once again be connected to Athens, Vienna, and Bucharest, while new flights will be introduced to Abu Dhabi, Rome, Milan, London, Warsaw, Krakow, and Budapest.
This expansion is a significant step in restoring international air travel to Israel, which has been severely impacted since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack. Other airlines, such as Aegean, LOT Polish Airlines, and Air Europa, have also resumed or increased flights to Israel, contributing to the recovery of travel options. Meanwhile, Israel’s Israir Airlines continues its operations with leased Hello Jets Boeing 737-700/-800 aircraft, offering routes from Tel Aviv to Athens and Larnaca through March 2025.
